I just finished my first batch of Little Dresses for Africa this weekend. 6 of these dresses will be shipped to Nancy’s Notions early this week. They were such fun to make and most were made out of fabrics already in my stash. Only materials I needed to buy was double fold bias tape to match (not something a quilter usually has just lying around). I would love to hear if anybody is making these for the project. I have included the link below from an earlier post if you need the pattern.
You make little sundresses out of yardages of fabric (or pillowcases) and mail them to Nancy’s Notions and they mail them to Africa for them. The little orphan girls get a nice dress to make them feel special.
You can add fun embellishments or whatever you like to make them even more special. On two of theses dresses, my daughter drew me applique shapes, that I fused to fabric and sewed onto the dresses with a satin stitch for durability. Just a little extra effort can make a cute dress even more special.
Here are the project instructions if you are interested:

I hope to make more very soon, but wanted to get this first batch in the mail.
Until next time, happy sewing & quilting!
